Trainers, Do You Need a Social Media Account?
By Blake Dudzik
Short answer, yes. Long answer, YESSSSSSSSS.
Of course, some people hate making money, and that’s okay too. But if you are a trainer and want to grow your business, or even just get clients that are a little less… “unique”, then let’s get that social media rolling!
Now of course this may seem a bit daunting for the less technologically inclined, but don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.
First, let’s get very clear on why an active social media presence is so important in the equestrian industry.
- Visibility
For many trainers who don’t already have a social media presence, their only real exposure to potential new clients is at horse shows and other local events – otherwise, word of mouth is the rule (and a temperamental one at that). Having a curated collection of training content allows your work to speak for itself, anytime, anywhere, and to a potentially limitless audience.
If you’re tired of scraping through the “unique” local clients who bounce from trainer to trainer for any variety of reasons (whether they’re unpleasant, needy, stingy, or even just downright crazy), having a larger pool of potential clients means you have the freedom to choose who you work with!
- Sponsorship Potential
Many of the leading equestrian brands have incorporated social media-based sponsorship requirements as an integral part of their marketing program, and without an active social media presence, your chances of landing a rewarding sponsor are slim to none. Finding a way to get yourself out there and engage with an audience is the reason brands become sponsors: to create a mutually beneficial relationship for you!
- Free Value ➡️Paying Client
Training is expensive, and before making the decision to hire a trainer, potential clients want to know that they are going to get their money’s worth. In short, can they trust you to get the job done? By providing free value via short instructional posts, you establish a foundation of trust with potential clients, greatly increasing the likelihood that they choose you as their trainer.
Now if I haven’t convinced you yet, that’s okay – free marketing that makes you more money isn’t for everyone.
Assuming you’re still reading, you love your business and don’t live under a rock, so let’s get you ready to rock your social media. It’s easier than it looks.
